Campus Sustainability
The New Home Office is a vital part of our journey to become a regenerative company, and associates play a key role in keeping our campus sustainable. From eliminating disposable cups to protecting our campus reservoirs, we aim to minimize our environmental impact and create a healthier, more vibrant workplace.
We are striving to be a Zero Waste campus, and we are committed to preserving the natural beauty and habitats around us. Here are four ways you can contribute:
1. Manage your trash
Associates are responsible for managing their own trash and you will not have a trash can at your workstation. The campus will use a three-stream bin system. To properly dispose of your waste, please sort into Compost (food and compostable cups, containers, napkins and utensils), Mixed Recycling (plastic beverage bottles and aluminum cans) and Landfill (foam and other non-compostable cups, containers and utensil, glass bottles).
It is important to sort your waste properly in order for our recycling and compost to be accepted. When in doubt about where to place an item, drop it in the Landfill bin.
2. Give up the cup!
Associates should bring their own mugs, water bottles, etc. You can fill up your cup at our free coffee and flavored still & sparkling water machine in the Community Kitchens.
If you forget to bring your own cup 8th & Plate will have reusable cups for purchase or compostable for take-out drinks. There will also be cups for $1 to purchase at Grab & Go’s located in office buildings.
3. Use durable dinnerware
Associates who eat in 8th & Plate Food Hall will have durables and will be responsible for taking them to one of the three tray return areas once finished.
Durable goods will be used for meals on campus with the exception of compostables for to-go purchases.
4. Enjoy the lakes responsibly
The 13 acres of campus lakes are thoughtfully designed to capture clean rain and ground water, supplying more than 52 million gallons of water per year for campus irrigation and cleaning, while also feeding clean water back into two key Northwest Arkansas creeks. To protect the lakes’ sustainability, wildlife and surroundings, no fishing, swimming, camping or boating is allowed. Please also do not feed any animals on campus.
