You earn PTO hours based on how long you’ve been with Walmart and the number of service hours you’ve worked (on duty hours, driving and not driving, plus benefit hours). You can use your PTO as soon as you earn it, instead of having to wait for your anniversary.

What happens to time I’ve already earned?
- Vacation days - Available and accrued vacation days will be converted to PTO.
- Personal days - You will keep your accrued personal days you have at the time of the PTO program launch. Personal days can be used for any reason, after you have used all your PTO. Under the new program, personal days will be maintained as a separate balance until it’s used up. Under the new PTO policy, no more personal time will be accrued.
- Sick days - You will also keep all your existing and accrued sick days.
- Part-time drivers: Once your PTO is used, you can use your sick days to cover time missed due to illness for yourself or an eligible family member. Under the new policy, no more sick days will be accrued. Instead, the time that previously accrued in this bucket will be earned as PTO.
- Personal sick days - You will also keep your existing personal sick day balance. You can use it without first using PTO, to make up your Average Daily Pay (ADP) for short days. You can also use it once you have exhausted PTO. Under the new program, it will be held apart from your PTO as a separate balance until it’s used up. Under the new policy, no more personal sick days will be accrued.
- Deferred holidays - The deferred holiday program will be going away when the PTO program launches. Any unused deferred holidays as of Feb. 3 will move to your PTO balance.
