Associates and volunteers feed 4,500+ military personnel and families.
We never want our heroes to go hungry. That’s why on Saturday, Oct. 28, over 250 associates from stores, clubs, supply chain and transportation and their families got together with the people at Penn State University to hold a tailgate to honor veterans, active military and their families with food and fun. The group served over 4,500 veterans, active-duty, reservists, their families, and Gold Star families during the event.
But of course, we’re Walmart and Sam’s Club, so we found other ways to give back. Associate Volunteerism Always Pays (VAP) funds went to support Operation Homefront. During the tailgate, Walmart and Sam’s Club arranged for a $30,000 grant to the Military Student Fund at Penn State as well.
